"The Sloth" by Theodore Roethke

In moving-slow he has no Peer.
You ask him something in his Ear,
He thinks about it for a Year;

And, then, before he says a Word
There, upside down (unlike a Bird),
He will assume that you have Heard--

A most Ex-as-per-at-ing Lug.
But should you call his manner Smug,
He'll sigh and give his Branch a Hug;

Then off again to Sleep he goes,
Still swaying gently by his Toes,
And you just know he knows he knows.

Shane was laughing at this fellow the whole time I was making him, but I think that's the proper response to his grin. Dude, there is fuzz EVERYWHERE.

Thank goodness the toffee I made yesterday worked and the nanaimo bars are all packed up in the fridge. The caramel was a disaster, but I think I will use it to make Turtle Brownies, which I wasn't going to bother with, but they were popular last year and I think Victoria asked after them.

Here's Hobbes. This has definitely been the most difficult project so far. All of those stripes!

The baking has begun and has so far been slightly disastrous. That's what I get for trying to make candy on my horrific stove. Well, so far we have peanut pliable, (rather than brittle, Francis' prophecy came true!) which I wrapped up in waxed paper as if I meant to do it that way. And so far the caramels haven't set, which doesn't bode well.

Oh well, the cookies will be fine anyway and honestly I'm not really worried much, just hoping nothing does have to go to waste. One day I will have a beautiful stove that gets just as hot as I want it too without any trouble.

I'm officially on my break. *SQUEAL* I've got most of my wrapping done. There's snow. Things are looking pretty good.

So adorable, yet so terrifying . . . I haven't armed him with his chef's knife or lantern yet though, so you may breathe a sigh of relief.

He'll be getting dressed soon and then I will also think about his accessories.

I would have liked the robes to be a bit bigger. They particularly pull on Yoda's little arms a bit too much, but overall I am satisfied. I used this pattern, supposed to be Harry Potter robes for a Death Eater. The instructions were a little hazy, but the pictures made things fairly clear.

Well, I made this pattern myself! It's heavily based off of the patterns I have learned from, but still. . .

I have figured out that embroidery works much better if you do it FIRST. Also, the force helps too.

This is for my brother. He still needs clothes, obviously. Poor nekkid Yoda.

Moogles, adorable marshmallows or devious psychopaths? You decide!

moogle v.1.1
This one looks a little devious. Wouldn't you agree?

moogle v.1.1
Here is the newest moogle I have made. I still have not perfected making a face that isn't slightly messed up, but I think he's cute anyway.

Here is my first moogle, sitting on top of a paopu fruit pillow I also made.

The hardest part was the 'embroidery.' I put that in quotation marks because I bet anyone who actually embroiders would cringe at my attempt. Bits of white fuzz kept poking through despite my best efforts. The pom pom is so fun. I attached it using doubled up jewelry wire and it swivels around on the moogle's head.

Moogle Bits

Or maybe it just hasn't been put in yet. I've got to make a trip to the store to pick up embroidery thread and poly-fil and a few other bits and pieces with which to finish this fellow off. I've really enjoyed this so far though.

All of the credit really goes to Charlotte of Baby London Star. Here's the moogle pattern I adapted. I mostly made him bigger and I'm going to add wings from another pattern off the web.
